Hughesville, MD – Two motorists were seriously injured early Monday morning, April 3 when the vehicle they were riding in struck a telephone pole in Charles County, police reported. According to Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson, the crash occurred in the area of Gallant Green Road and Woodville Road in Hughesville around 1:52 a.m. the road was shut down for several hours while emergency crews aided the injured and utility workers repaired the telephone pole.
Richardson said the motorists—the driver a 24-year-old Huntingtown man and the 22-year-old passenger—were traveling in a1969 Camaro. The motorists were flown to a regional trauma center and their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation. Preliminary information indicates speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
