Hughesville, MD – Two motorists were seriously injured early Monday morning, April 3 when the vehicle they were riding in struck a telephone pole in Charles County, police reported. According to Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson, the crash occurred in the area of Gallant Green Road and Woodville Road in Hughesville around 1:52 a.m. the road was shut down for several hours while emergency crews aided the injured and utility workers repaired the telephone pole.

Richardson said the motoristsโ€”the driver a 24-year-old Huntingtown man and the 22-year-old passengerโ€”were traveling in a1969 Camaro. The motorists were flown to a regional trauma center and their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation. Preliminary information indicates speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
