Indian Head, MD – A morning fire on Chicamuxen Road remains under investigation, state officials reported. The blaze was reported around 7:19 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.
According the the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, $5,000 damage is estimated to the contents of the 150-by-40-foot quonset hut owned by Mark A. Holt. no injuries were reported.
Thirty firefighters were dispatched to the on-alarm blaze and had the flames under control in 10 minutes.
“The owner discovered a fire within the garage,” the investigating deputy fire marshal reported. “An electrical storm had passed through the area earlier, causing power outages and downed trees. this incident is still under investigation.
A portion of Chicamuxen Road was closed for approximately 90 minutes while fire crews were at the scene.
