UPDATE 9 a.m. on March 11

Maryland State Fire Marshalls have determined the cause of the house fire located at 28795 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville on March 10 to be arson.

Investigation revealed the fire was determined to be an incendiary fire from someone setting the fire inside the house. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Southern Regional Office of the Fire Marshals at (443) 550-6833.


Fire Breaks Out in Mechanicsville Home Twice in One Week

Maryland State Fire Marshall’s are investigating a house fire atย a Mechanicsville residence forย the second time in one week.

Firefightersย were dispatched to 28795 Three Notch Road around 9:29 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, for the report of smoke coming from the structure.

Crewsย arrived on the scene to find a two story abandoned single family with smoke showing, fire on the first floor and the stairwell burned out to the second floor.ย 

After several minutes of firefighting operations,ย the command placed the fire under control, butย crews remained on the scene for several hours performing overhaul and assisting the Fire Marshall.

The cause of this blaze remains under investigation.

Over 30 Firefighters Help to Battle Mechanicsville Blaze
On Wednesday March, 4 at approximately 5:16 p.m., firefighters from Mechanicsville, Hollywood, Hughesville and Benedict Volunteer Fire Departments responded toย a residence in Mechanicsville located at 28795 Three Notch Road for a working house fire.

Over 35 firefighters took approximately 15 minutes to knock down the primary fire located on the first floor of the two-story single family home. After an inspection by the State Fire Marshall, it was determined the fire was accidental and caused by an unattended kerosene heater.

No injuries were reported.

It is estimated that the fire caused $25,000 worth of damage.
