A fire that completely destroyed a detached garage and its contents Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 17 was an accident, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office the blaze reported shortly after noon on Christiana Parran Road in Chesapeake Beach resulted in a $60,000 loss of property.

The fire was sparked โ€œfrom a malfunction involving a vehicle inside the garage,โ€ Dfm. John Nelson stated.

No injuries are believed to have occurred as a result of the fire. Thirty firefighters from North Beach, Dunkirk, Prince Frederick and Huntingtown were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 15 minutes.

Nelson reported the 20 by 30-foot wood-frame structure was owned by James and Shannon Stevens.

On Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at approximately 12:27 pm, there was a report of a building fire at 4220 Christiana Parran Road.ย  Smoke could be seen before arrival on the scene.

The large shed was a total lost and all content within the shed.

Units were on the scene until about 2:10 pm and the Fire Marshall was also on the scene doing his investigation.
