A car accident on Mason Springs Road in La Plata has knocked out a utility pole and closed portions of the road late Tuesday afternoon. The car that had wrecked caught on fire, killing the driver who had walked back to his car.
“People speed down our road at 70mph,” Shannon Czesak, resident in the Pisgah area for over a year, said. “This is the third major accident in front of my house in a year. I thought the neighbors were having a fire, I didn’t notice until I heard the sirens.”
As of 4:27pm EST, the Charles County Office of Public Information reported the road was still closed. The location of the accident is near the Pisgah Recycling Center and Pisgah Park, which are both on Mason Springs Road. Power was out for 225 residents in the La Plata and Indian Head but was restored sometime around 6:30pm.
