The Maryland State Police helicopter, Trooper 7, and numerous police, volunteer firefighters, and well as Department of Natural Resources officers searched on foot and all-terrain vehicles Tuesday night for a missing mother and daughter in the woods near St. Mary’s Lake.
St. Mary’s Sheriff David Zylak told The Bay Net they were recovered the woods after a cell phone was used to contact police
St. Mary’s Lt. John Horne tells The Bay Net the mother and daughter became lost in the woods while riding bikes on the several miles of trails in the woods.
Second District Volunteer Fire Department reports the subjects called 911 on a cell phone when they spotted the Trooper helicopter overhead. They then worked their way to an open field where they were spotted by the helicopter’s search light and eventually met up with a rescue Jeep.
The mother and daughter were checked out by a medical crew, and other than anxiety from being lost, they were uninjured and refused further treatment.
