It’s grand opening weekend here in Solomons, highlighted by the opening of the Tiki Bar. People from all over have poured into Solomons Island annual opening by the thousands. Calypso Bay and No Green Jelly Beans rocked out their festivities as well. Their tent was packed. Friday’s weather held out perfect for everyone to enjoy a warm fun filled celebration. While Saturday, was a bust because of thunderstorms, rain and mud.
By mid day on Friday, the area surrounding the Tiki Bar was filled with people excited and enjoying the great weather. Many shaking off the stiffness and boredom of winter, and even more soaking up the beautiful warm sunshine. No Green Jelly Bean rocked out the stage with a performance that attracted so many people that their was no room left in the tent.
As nighfall set in, people were herded by officers on horseback out of the south part of the island and many flooded into Catamarans.
