Chaptico,MD โ On December 5, 2015 at 7:51 p.m., Tpr. Manning responded to the intersection of Route 234 and Route 238 in Chaptico for a reported motor vehicle collision.ย
Investigation revealed a red Dodge truck, had been traveling east bound on Route 238, just past Hurry Road.ย The driver, Mark Anthony Briscoe, 42, of Mechanicsville, failed to maintain control of the vehicle, crossing over the double yellow line and continuing into the Village Liquors and Citgo Gas Station parking lot.ย The vehicle ran over a diesel pumping station and continued across the parking lot sideways, striking an air compressor station and business sign which displays gas prices.ย
The vehicle came to a rest upside down on top of a concrete block.ย Mr. Briscoe and the passenger, Rodney Edward Maddox, 39, of Bushwood, were trapped in the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene.The accident is being reconstructed by Sgt. C. Bowling.ย
Speed and driver error appear to be contributing factors in this motor vehicle collision.ย The case remains open pending further investigation.

Chaptico, MD – Two men were killed Saturday evening, Dec. 5 as a result of a single-vehicle crash on Budds Creek Road near Maddox Road in Chaptico. The identities of the men are not being released at this time as relatives are being notified.
The crash was reported around 7:30 p.m. Investigation of the accident is being handled by the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with traffic control.
Portions of the roads in the crash area are expected to be shut down for four to six hours as accident reconstruction is being conducted. Motorists should avoid the area until further notice.

Authorities in St. Mary’s County are confirming two people people have died in a motor vehicle crash in the Chaptico area. Police are at the scene–Route 234 and Route 238 near a roundabout and are conducting an accident reconstruction.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. The names of the victims have not been released.

Chaptico, MD – There are unconfirmed reports at this time that two motorists may be dead as a result of the crash.ย

Maryland State Police Trooper 7 is en route to motor vehicle crash scene in Chaptico. At least three critical injuries are reported. The landing zone is being established.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash site is Route 234 and Route 238 near a roundabout.
Motorists should avoid the area.
