Deputy State Fire Marshals investigated the origin and cause for a fire that damaged the showroom portion of the Southern States located at 29815 Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.

The 3:26 a.m. one alarm fire was contained to the attic area over the showroom by nearly 35 firefighters from Mechanicsville, Hughesville, Benedict and Waldorf Fire Departments within fifteen minutes. 

Investigators determined the fire originated in the attic as a result of an electrical fire involving the HVAC system.  Damages to the structure and contents is estimated at $1,000,000.  No injuries were reported during the incident. 

The warehouse was not affected by the fire during the incident.
