Lexington Park, MD – A one-alarm fire at a two-story, single-family home on St. Lo Place in Lexington Park Wednesday, July 6 caused $2,000 damage to the residence, state investigators reported. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office reported the blaze started in a bathroom window frame shortly after 9 a.m. No one was injured.

“The occupants’ son discovered smoke filling the bathroom,” a fire marshal’s report stated. “It was determined that smoking materials had fallen between the window frame and the wall stud, causing the fire.”

The Bay District Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding company, the report stated. Fifteen firefighters brought the blaze under control in 20 minutes.
