On Saturday, April 02, 2011, at approximately 3:33 am, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad started their day with a working auto fire. There was a report of an auto fire at 6740 Solomons Island Road as the owner reported just returning to his home. The vehicle was fully involved when they arrived at the scene. But that was just the first fire call for the day.
They had already responded to medical calls at 12:24 am, 1:18 am, 1:59 am and then a service call at 3:02 am.
We owe a lot to the dedicated volunteers in Calvert County for all they do. When the alarm sounds no matter what day or time, there are always volunteers coming to the support of the citizens of Calvert County.
But it is not just Calvert County, there are volunteers in the fire departments throughout the state, but Calvert County is the only 100% volunteer company and is proud of it. So are the residents of Calvert County. This volunteer service saves Calvert County millions of dollars each year.
