Crash Oct. 30, 2017 on Route 5 in Waldorf, MD

UPDATE 11:45 a.m.

Waldorf, MD – Two motorists were seriously injured as the result of a two-vehicle collision on Leonardtown Road (Route 5) early Monday evening, Oct. 30. According to the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, one of the vehicles caught on fire after the head-on crash. Both injured motorists were flown to regional trauma centers.

A portion of Route 5–betweeen Post Office Road and Vivian Adams Drive–was closed for almost two hours.ย 

The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. and is under investigation. A police report is pending.


UPDATE 8:05 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30

Waldorf,MD – At 8 p.m. Charles County authorities reported Leonardtown Road has re-opened from Post Office Road to Vivian Adams Drive.


UPDATE 7:25 p.m.

Waldorf, MD – Police in Charles County reported a portion of Leonardtown Road (Route 5), between Post Office Road and Vivian Adams Drive has been closed due to a serious two-vehicle collision. The crash–which appears to have been a head-on collision–occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Two emegency helicopters were dispatched to the scene. There is no specific information on injuries at this time. The road is expected to be closed for several hours. Motorists should avoid the area until further notice. An investigation is on-going and a report is pending.
