Hundreds of people converged on Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf for the March of Dimes’ “March for Babies” on a cool, overcast Sunday morning. Jennifer Abell, who organized the march, considered the event a success.
 
“We had about 500 people registered and we usually get two-thirds that show up and participate in the walk,” Abell said. “I’m estimating we have about 375 here today. This is to raise funds for the March of Dimes. These people have been raising funds for the last four months. They’ve put teams together throughout the county. We’re expecting to bring in approximately $93,000 and this is their celebration to support our mission, for them supporting us, our mission to make sure everyone has a healthy baby. We did one yesterday in Leonardtown in St. Mary’s County and we had about 350 people show up to that one as well. That one is expected to bring in about $95,000.”
 
Along with the walk, there was a video game station for children and displays from event sponsors.
