Hundreds of people converged on Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf for the March of Dimesโ€™ โ€œMarch for Babiesโ€ on a cool, overcast Sunday morning.ย Jennifer Abell, who organized the march, considered the event a success.
ย
โ€œWe had about 500 people registered and we usually get two-thirds that show up and participate in the walk,โ€ Abell said.ย โ€œIโ€™m estimating we have about 375 here today.ย This is to raise funds for the March of Dimes.ย These people have been raising funds for the last four months.ย Theyโ€™ve put teams together throughout the county.ย Weโ€™re expecting to bring in approximately $93,000 and this is their celebration to support our mission, for them supporting us, our mission to make sure everyone has a healthy baby.ย We did one yesterday in Leonardtown in St. Maryโ€™s County and we had about 350 people show up to that one as well.ย That one is expected to bring in about $95,000.โ€
ย
Along with the walk, there was a video game station for children and displays from event sponsors.
