Waldorf, MD – Fire caused by a malfunctioning furnace damaged a Charles County home Friday, Dec. 16, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze occurred at a two-story, single-family dwelling on Marshall Road in Waldorf and was reported at approximately 10:30 a.m.

โ€œThe fire was the result of a malfunction within the furnace inside the home,โ€ the investigating deputy fire marshal reported. โ€œThe occupant was displaced and is being assisted by friends.โ€

Thirty firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 10 minutes. Combined damage to the structure and contents is $75,000. No injuries were reported.

Waldorf, MD – At approximately 11:30 a.m. local Charles County Fire Departments were called to respond heavy fire in Waldorf on Marshall Corner Road.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they discovered smoke coming from the second floor. In addition, hoarding conditions were discovered by units on the scene, and fire in the basement of the dwelling is being contained.
