Lexington Park, MD— A warrant for theft has been issued for a Lexington Park man for four counts of theft less than $1,000, one count of theft less than $100, one count of theft $1,000 to $10,000, and theft scheme less than $1,000.ย
On four separateย occasions, David J. Hockaday, 55, of Lexington Park obtained gift cards for items he stole during a visitย to Lowes in Lexington Park, according to police.ย
Charging documentsย indicate, “Approximately $2,460 worth of items were returnedย in exchange for gift cards.” The theft scheme began on Dec.14, 2015 and lasted until June 17, 2016, after Hockaday attempted to return items using his identification card, but was declined.ย
Hockaday and another subject were confronted by the loss prevention officer and management employees. Hockaday and the other subject then left the scene in their vehicle.ย
Hockaday, who was identifiedย by his Maryland MVA photograph, faces a maximum jail sentence of 24 years and/or a maximum fine of $22,000.ย
