Believe it or not, week 3 has come and gone in the world of high school football. It seems like just yesterday that the season opener was kicking off and itโ€™s already a quarter of the way through the season. Anyways, if you were out of town, or sick, or had some other ailment, and couldnโ€™t make it out to a game, have no fear; TheBayNet has your full week 3 recap below.

Westlake 40
Huntingtown 3

ย  In a game that was only close at kickoff, Westlake dominated the Hurricanes up and down the field. Westlake moved the ball with ease against a Huntingtwon defense that has now allowed 106 points through 3 games. Their offense hasnโ€™t done much better, scoring only 9 points in that same span. Westlake improves to 3-0, while Huntingtown falls to 0-3.
ย

North Point 34
Calvert 19

ย  In a battle between two of the four 2-0 teams this week, North Point overcame early mistakes to put the Cavaliers into the loss column. Following the first few drives, North Point started putting points on the board, but that didnโ€™t stop Calvert from making a game out of it. With 2 minutes left , it was an 8 point game until North Point iced the game with a touchdown run late in the 4th quarter to push the score to that of the final. North Point improves to 3-0, while Calvert drops to 2-1.
ย

Northern 36
La Plata 17

La Plata and Northern came together, and Northern came out on top as they picked up their first win of the season. La Plata couldn’t get anything going offensively until it was too late. They drop to 0-3 on the season. Northern will play at Leonardtown next week while La Plata will play at Patuxent.ย

Lackey 13
St. Charles 7
ย
Coming off of their first win in program history, St. Charles looked to make it 2 in a row against school rival Lackey. They took the early lead on Lackey, but an interception return for a touchdown before the half made it a one point lead for St. Charles going into the half. The Lackey defense toughened up, while their offense did what was necessary to get the W. Lackey improves to 2-1, while St. Charles drops to 1-2.

Thomas Stone 41
Leonardtown 0

ย  Similar to the Westlake-Huntingtown game, this game was only close at kickoff. Stoneโ€™s running game was too much for the Raiders to handle. With a running clock early in the second half, this game was the first to go final in the night. Stone improves to 2-1, while Leonardtown drops to 1-2.

Chopticon 27
McDonough 7

ย  Following the heartbreaking loss that Chopticon had last week, they came out and shut the door early on the Rams. With a 20-7 lead going into the fourth quarter, they shut the door for good with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. McDonough now drops to 0- 3 on the season, while Chopticon improves to 2-1.
