As the temperature dips, it becomes obvious who the contenders are, and who squanders off into missing the playoffs. Week 7 was one that certainly held to form. If you missed any action this weekend, have no fear. Your TheBayNet week 7 recap is here.
Huntingtown Hurricanes 30, St. Charles 0
ย In a game that was played on Saturday afternoon, Huntingtown used that extra day to prepare, and rest a little longer. It benefited them as they shut out their first opponent of the season, and picked up their second win.
Lackey Chargers 34, Great Mills Hornets 14
ย In Lackeyโs homecoming game, Lackey jumped out to a 27-0 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Great Mills finally got some offense going in the 4th quarter, but it was too little to late as their offense finished a scoring drive to end the ball game.
Northern Patriots 35, Chopticon Braves 28
ย In probably the most unexpected result of week 7, Northern upended Chopticon. Northern is now the #1 seed in the 3A south. Their defense held off Chopticon, and their offense scored when it was necessary. An entire team effort went into downing the Braves.
Westlake Wolverines 19, Stone Cougars 14
ย Westlake held the lead for 36 seconds in this game, however those 36 seconds were all they needed. After a desperation throw, and a difficult catch in the endzone to give Westlake the lead, the atmosphere surrounding the Cougars sideline died. Everyone was stunned, and no one said a word. North Point Eagles 35, Leonardtown Raiders 0
ย In a game that saw the running clock get activated, North Point dominated the Raiders to stay unbeaten. North Point also took over the 1 seed in their region, theirs being the 4A east. North Point looks to extend their perfect mark next week against Great Mills.
Calvert Cavaliers 35, La Plata Warriors 0
ย Calvert came off of their season defining win over the Panthers, and just smothered the Warriors. Their offense kept the La Plata defense on the field, and their own defense off. They had a dominant game plan, and will look to extend their excellent start next week at Stone. Calvert is now in the 2 seed of the 2A South.
Patuxent Panthers 49, McDonough Rams 8
ย Patuxent got their offense back on track as they nearly put up a 50 burger on the Rams defense. Patuxent came out, and ran the ball effectively. Throwing the ball when necessary, but running it first. Patuxent will begin their hardest three game stretch of the year now, taking on Chopticon at home next Friday night.
