Dear Anglers,ย

This has been a busy week for me. I started out going to Virginia Beach/Lynn haven Marina for three full days of Cobia fishing. The conditions were not right for us. We caught more Skates, Rays and large Sharks than ever before. The bite was excellent if you like reeling in stuff. But you got to go to get them. The week before was good for Cobia and Spades. So they call it fishing and not catching.

I will be back next year again. May even go in the fall for the Red fish Cobia exit.

Back home on Wednesday to ready for fishing locally. On Thursday morning I was asked to guide a good friend of many years on his vessel, big Pro-Line, twin engines and all the right stuff. After aย  6 am departure we went out to the Chinese Mud area to look for the breaking fish. Sure enough we saw them just off the edge near buoy 77. With trolling lines in the water in no time the rods started bending. This was a special day for my friend Don who had his father up visiting from North Carolina with his friend, a fellow Pastor. SO with the good Lord riding in the wings we had a ball. We trolled after the fish in every direction it seemed until all theย  boats came. Down the fish went and left us. But with the fish we had in the cooler no one complained. Then it was off to catch Spot. We went to the Three Legged Buoy and in 24 feet set anchor. We bailed the Spot there until we used up one and a half dozen worms calling it quits. We went back to the dock, counted out the Spot and have 98 Spot with two Croaker. How about that for fishing.ย

On Friday I greeted two anglers at the Reel Relief form Chesapeake Va., father Michael and son Frank camping near Solomons. They wanted a half day fishing for Stripers. Leaving a 5:30 we headed to Cove Point Reef to check it out. We drifted there catching a 26 inch fish which was Franks first Striper. Then off to the Gas Dock, no fish seen. Up to the Power Plant signs showed we need to troll. So we did and it was slow at first due to the tide changing. Once it took off things got better. I saw one boat live lining and it was working, so I trolled close to it. Finding Fish laying on the bottom I took up the trolling gear and we anchored down from that boat. Sure was the right thing to do as the fish started coming overย  the side quickly. We had out fish in no time and good fish as well. You can see the picture attach of Frankโ€™s first fish. Back in the river we caught a few Spot but did not find a lot so we called it a day.ย

George Kohleiber from Hughesville brought the family down and with six anglers we took the bigger Margie D out with Capt. Dale Weems as my mate. Up to the Gas Dock by 5:30 we had it all to us and fish on the meter looked positive. But we again had a slow tide and not bites. Drove up the western edge and no fish. At the Power Plant it look good, trolled every direction, no fish. Then a call came in of breaking fish at the Gas Dock, down there we went only to find feathers no fish. A call came in up the bay a ways there were several schools breaking of mixed fish, so off we went. Six miles later it looked bad, as we looked around and saw little. Then they came up just ahead. Trolling lines in we were ready. But the fish where small, hooking three, only to lose them. I decided to move south again. Running along I was fish breaking ahead. This time it was get the Spot out and try them. Sure enough we had fish in the box. We fished until the time was to go, only after catching some very nice fish. It was a great day for all.

Back at the dock we found the next afternoon party had arrived. This time it was on Y
