State and local investigators have determined a fire that damaged an unoccupied, one-story, wood-framed house in the White Sands subdivision of Lusby was deliberately set.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze at the home on White Sands Drive was reported April 21 at 4 p.m.

โ€œA neighbor noticed an open door at the residence and notified the owner,โ€ Dfm. John Nelson reported. โ€œUpon entering the house the damage was located and the [Calvert County] Sheriffโ€™s Office was called. There were numerous small fires intentionally set in several rooms of the house. The incident occurred sometime in the overnight hours of April 20.โ€

Damage to the house is estimated at $5,000.
