WALDORF, MD – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Professional Baseball Organization officially announce they have invited Tim Tebow to join the active roster beginning as early as today, August 9. Media outlets, including ESPN and USA Today, have confirmed the Heisman Trophy winner is actively pursuing a career in professional baseball.

Tim Tebow is best known for playing for the Florida Gators in college, but he has also played in the NFL with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and the Denver Broncos. While Tebow is known for his football ability, he is also a celebrated baseball player. In 2004, Tebow was an All-State player at Florida and as a high school junior hit .494. For the past year, he has been working out in Arizona and Los Angeles to get back into baseball shape.

The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball has had over 800 players sign with Major League Organizations and became the first independent professional baseball league to have a working agreement with Major League Baseball in 2016, making it a perfect fit for a player looking to enter the game professionally.

“He would be a great addition to the team, and we look forward to hearing from his agent in the near future,” said Blue Crabs General Manager, Courtney Knichel. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have not heard from Tebowโ€™s agent regarding the proposition to play here in Waldorf as of yet.

The Blue Crabs are on the road for a seven game stretch against the Lancaster Barnstormers and the Somerset Patriots. They return home on August 15th for a seven game homestand. For tickets contact 301-638-9788. For questions regarding this article, please email smbcmedia@somdbluecrabs.com.
