Lexington Park, MD – For week sixโ€™s game of the week, TheBayNet.com traveled to Henry E. Lackey High School where the Westlake Wolverines took on the Lackey Chargers.

Both teams entered week six at (3-2), and the they seemed evenly matched entering the second half with Westlake leading by only six, but it did not take long before Westlake began to assert their dominance over the Chargers. The Wolverines shut out Lackey in the second half and went on to score an additional 18 points, winning the game 38-14.

The, now 4-2, Wolverines rushed for 272 yards and four touchdowns. Westlake also passed for 124 yards and a single touchdown. The leading Wolverine rusher was L. Washington (Sr), who ran for 110 yards and three touchdowns on four carries, and the passing leaders were Jalon Spencer (Sr), who completed eight of fifteen passes for 86 yards and the only touchdown through the air. Defensively, Westlake sacked the Chargers five times, with L. Washington (Sr) and Earl Spicer Jr. (Sr) recording two each, and Jaylon Ryans (Jr) with one. Devin Williams (Sr) also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Lackey depended on big plays in the first half to move the ball, but the Chargers were unable to sustain that offensive flow, barely breaking over 100 total yards. Quarterback R. Middleton (Sr) completed only four of 12 passes for 49 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. The Chargersโ€™ leading rusher was Jayson Wilmer (Sr) who ran for 26 yards. Lackeyโ€™s defense had one sack by Kobby Ayim (Jr).

Westlakeโ€™s win keeps them in playoff contention in the 2A South. The Wolverinesโ€™ win tied up the series record, since 2004, with Lackey at nine apiece. (4-2) Westlake travels to (1-5) McDonough on Friday at 7 p.m.

(3-3) Lackey travels to (2-4) Chopticon Friday at 7 p.m.
