St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park on January 18 to assist the Maryland State Police with a large crowd. Once police arrived the crowd began to disperse, at which time suspect Shanta Latoya Mackall, 27, of Lexington Park, began to scream obscenities.
She refused all orders made by officers for her stop. Mackall was advised she was under arrest and Deputy Kerns attempted to place her in handcuffs. Mackall pulled her arms away resisting arrest. She was quickly subdued and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. She was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
