(La Plata, Maryland) โ€“ On September 27, at approximately 10 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to a collision on Maryland Route 257 in the area of Banks O Dee Road, Newburg.ย  As a result of the collision, the female operator sustained life-threatening injuries.ย ย ย 

A preliminary investigation conducted by Troopers from the La Plata Barrack, with the assistance of the TFC Hooten, Southern Region Crash Unit, indicates a Toyota Tacoma operated by Shirley Jeans Keesee, 53, was traveling on northbound Maryland Route 257 in the area of Banks O Dee Road. Keesee failed to drive in a single lane and failed to drive right of center.ย  The Toyota traveled off the roadway, traveled across a yard and collided with a tree. Keesee was transported to Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital via MSP Helicopter Trooper 7 and was listed in serious condition.ย ย 

On Oct. 4, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Keesee was pronounced deceased at Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital.
