California,MD— On Jan.29, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officeย Deputy J. Kerns responded to the 23000 block of Three Notch Road in California, for the report of an accident that occurred in the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse.

A strong odor of suspected marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the suspect, Lauren Ashley Mahon, 22 of Charlotte Hall, appeared to under the influence of alcohol.

According to charging documents, “Cpl.T Fleenor stated that he arrived on scene and approached the vehicle that was believed to be the at-fault vehicle in the accidentย and observed the defendant passed out in the drivers seat.”ย 

“The defendantย rolled the window down a little but refused to roll it down the rest of the way. He (Fleenor) stated he detected a strong odor of marijuanaย emitting from the vehicle,” according to charging documents.ย 

“I (Kerns) spoke with the defendant, and she advised she had gone to the VFW and drank two beers, then she came to Outback Steak House and drank more,” according to charging documents.ย 

A search of Mahonโ€™s car revealed paraphernalia consistent with marijuana use. Mahon was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and two counts of CDS possessionโ€“paraphernalia.ย 

Mahon has a court date scheduled for April 28 at the St.Mary’s County District Court. Mahon faces a maximum penalty of $1,000.ย 

The investigating officer who prepared the charging documents used in this case was Dep.Jason Kerns of the St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.ย
