La Plata, MD – Victoria Rose Pettko, 26 of Waldorf, has seen the inside of a Charles County Circuit Court room quite a few times since her arrest on distribution of CDS narcotics May 24, 2012.

Pettko had already been to La Plata 11 times over a two-year period for motions hearings and other docket items until her sentencing Thursday, Sept. 10 before Judge H. James West.

Charles County Assistant States Attorney Constance Kopelman said sentencing guidelines ran from six months to three years, but that under the terms of a plea agreement she was recommending a three year suspended sentence coupled with five years of supervised probation.

โ€œShe has absolutely no prior record,โ€ Charles County Assistant Public Defender Chris Stuart told West. โ€œI would like to leave open the possibility of probation before judgement. If Ms. Pettko performs well on probation, then we can revisit probation.โ€

There was no credit for time served, he told the court.

West handed down five years in jail, but suspended that sentence and ordered Pettko to be on supervised probation for a period of five years.

โ€œIโ€™m going to ask you to submit to a random urinalysis and take drug and alcohol evaluation if recommended by the health department,โ€ West told her.
