Leonardtown, MD— On Oct.25, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Dep.D. Holdsworth responded to Leonard Hall Drive in Leonardtown for the initial report of theft.ย
When Holdsworth arrived on the scene, he made contact with the Tammie Jo Read, 51, of no fixed address. Read informedย Holdsworth she stole a Stihl chainsaw from the victim. Read advised, “she was living with the victim at the time of the theft, and she stole the chainsaw from the victim’s garage,” according to charging documents.ย
Read stated she sold the chainsaw to PawnIt and receivedย $150, “which she used to purchase heroin,” according to charging documents.ย
Later in the day, the victim contacted Holdsworth again and advised he was missing numerous items from his residence. According to charging documents, “the total value of stolen items was $52,280.00,” according to charging documents.ย
PawnIt advised, “Read sold numerous items to the store on six separateย occasions,” according to charging documents.ย
Read was charged with theft $10,000 to under $100,000 and has a court date scheduled April 7 at the St.Mary’s County District Court.ย
Read faces a maximum jail sentence of 15 years and/or a maximum fine of $15,000.ย
