Near 1:45 p.m. Friday, volunteer firefighters were dispatched to a woods fire on private property near St. John’s Road in Hollywood.
“Brush units” from Hollywood, Leonardtown and Bay District responded to the blaze, along with additional volunteer trucks and a Maryland Forest Service truck.
The owner of the property was reportedly burning a large brush pile that got out of control.
Firefighters on the scene worked for nearly two hours, drenching burning ground.
