LINCOLN MILITARY HOUSING TURKEY GIVE-AWAY
Patuxent River, MD – On Monday, Nov. 21, Regional Community Services Director Wayne Beardsley of Lincoln Military Housing plans to give away over 200 turkeys. “This is will be our first Annual Turkey give-away and we are partnering with Clippers Landscaping, a long-time vendor who works on our properties.” Said Beardsley.
“Lincoln Military Housing has partnered with Navy to help build, renovate and change the quality of life on each installation,” Beardsley said. “We work with MWR, USO and Operation Homefront as well and participate in various other programs to help support military families.”
Beardsley said after a brain-storming session, they realized some military families can’t afford big dinners for the holidays.
The idea was birthed with the thought of making sure that everyone had a great Thanksgiving. The staff from Clippers Landscaping loved the idea and agreed to help with delivering the turkeys to the families in a timely manner.
Free turkeys will be delivered to the following local naval sites: Annapolis, Bellevue, Dahlgren, Indian Head, Patuxent River and Quantico.
The staff of Lincoln Military Housing knows first-hand just how stressful things can be for military families.
When asked if they were planning anything for the Christmas holiday, Beardsley said, “We are coordinating a project with Operation Homefront who is working with Dollar Tree to collect items for military families.Currently, we are in the process of picking out toys for our families for Christmas and will be giving the other gifts as stocking stuffers.”
“We wanted to do something for anyone that was in need this year, so we thought a turkey could help to relieve some stress.” said Beardsley.
After putting the message out on social media, Beardsley said almost all the turkeys were claimed within the first hour.
