At 9:28 p.m. Sept. 25, Officers form the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the Calvert Investigative Team responded to Ball Rd., St. Leonard, for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival officers found, Rodney Gray Jr, 20 of St. Leonard, unresponsive from a stab wound to the chest.ย  Gray was transported to Prince Georgeโ€™s Shock Trauma via Maryland State Police Trooper 7.ย  Gray was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after landing.

Witness statements establish that a green 1998 Ford Explorer fled the scene in an unknown direction. Per witness statements obtained on the scene and further investigation it was determined that the 1998 Ford Explorer was occupied by 5 individuals to include Christopher Whisman, 21 of Broomes Island; Whisman was said to be in possession of a knife.

When patrolling for the suspect vehicle, officers observed 5 individuals exiting the wood line near the intersection of Broomes Island Road and Hance Road.ย  The subjects entered a vehicle that was waiting for them.ย  A traffic stop was made on the vehicle they entered and all the occupants were transported to the Sheriffโ€™s Office for questioning.

Investigators learned that the occupants of the Explorer had gone to the Ball Road residence to settle a dispute when the physical altercation irrupted.ย  Due to witness and statements given by the individuals involved in the altercation, Christopher Doran Whisman was charged with Second Degree Murder, First and Second Degree Assault, and carrying a Dangerous Weapon.

Whisman was transported to Calvert County Detention center to await a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
