WALDORF, Md. – Charles County Commissioner Gilbert “BJ” Bowling revealed some exciting plans for Charles County’s new 228-acre Sports Complex coming to 12956 Poplar Hill Road in a Facebook post.

According to the post, in 2008, Charles County acquired the parcel as a future park site. The site has dual road frontage on Poplar Hill and St. Peter’s Church Road.

The new park is planning to have plenty of entertaining things to do, such as full-court basketball courts, 3v3 basketball courts, a sensory playground, multi-use fields, ADA accessible playground, food truck areas, all breed dog park, walking/biking trails with exercise stations, and so much more!

The development of this site is a crucial factor in meeting the outdoor recreational needs of Charles County residents in the Waldorf region, as identified in the 2022 Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan.

  1. Funny how the jive 5 gives them 2 b’ball courts… Do you see their agenda yet?
They just can’t stop the building and tree removal here. They just have to rid our town of every last tree.

  2. if 228 sounds familiar, where have I heard 228 before? Its Berry Road! Does Troy Berry know all about Berry road?

  3. all i can say. yeah lets keep global warming alive and well by cutting down more trees. hey where to you think oxygen comes from. if you answered trees you are correct. so what the hell … more concrete hotter temps. it does not matter what we say they will go ahead with their plans to cut down more trees to build more stuff . how long will it take for the place to be trashed.

  4. Poplar Hill Rd has no shoulders..it is backed up from the church, the school, the cemetary that us used by DC and PG residents and now this..how are the area residents supposed to get around? Poor planning unless accidents are what you are aiming for

  5. More tax money stolen from those who have earned it, then wasted on this rubbish. Leave this place alone.
