LA PLATA, Md. – On June 12, 2024, La Plata Police Department officers responded to the Target, 60 Shinning Willow Way, for the report of a theft in progress. Working with the loss prevention manager, officers apprehended the individual without incident in the parking lot.
The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation that identified the suspect in 52 separate shoplifting incidents at 11 different Target stores with a total of $30,000 in merchandise being stolen.
The individual, Michael Lee, 38-year-old of Hyattsville, MD, was transported to the Charles County Detention Center for charges and processing.
Follow-up investigation is continuing.

52 thefts and $30 thousand dollars, sounds to me like he needs 10 years of incarceration to think about his behavior.
Good luck with that, this is Maryland, he will be out in 10 weeks
52(!) known thefts and $30K in merch. That averages out to $576+ per theft. 52 thefts! I guess law enforcement was waiting for ‘just the right time’.
Sounds like a career criminal. He should be held on no bond, then sentenced to yrs of incarceration after convictions.
