
CALIFORNIA, Md. — A 59-year-old man was airlifted to a regional trauma center Sunday after crashing an electric bike in California, Maryland.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 11:21 a.m. on March 15, 2026, to the intersection of Wildewood Parkway and Evergreen Way for a reported motor vehicle collision involving injuries.
First responders arrived to find the rider conscious and breathing after striking his face and head on the pavement and loose gravel during the crash.
Due to the severity of the injuries, a Maryland State Police aviation unit was requested for a medevac transport.
EMS transported the patient by ambulance to St. Mary’s County Regional Airport, where he was transferred to Trooper 7 at the Maryland State Police hangar.
The patient was then airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for further treatment.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
