CLEMENTS, Md. — Mount Chance Farm, also known as Dakota’s Legacy Equine, held its annual holiday event, “A Casual Christmas,” bringing joy and support to the community this season by collecting 64 gifts for residents of the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. The gifts, delivered Dec. 23, included extra items and handwritten thank-you cards for each veteran.

“Last night, we stuffed both of our trucks with over 60 full gifts, bagged and ready to be delivered to our Veterans!” the farm shared on Facebook. “We were able to provide ‘extra’ items in each bag, a handwritten thank-you card to each Vet AND still provided them two boxes of extra items to be disbursed as needed. Sixty-four gifts in total! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your help. My heart is full. Merry Christmas.”

The event, which began Nov. 29, continues Dec. 27 and 28, with a focus on collecting donations for St. Mary’s Caring Soup Kitchen, blessing bag items for the homeless, pet food for Tri-County Animal Shelters, and new toys for children affected by Hurricane Helene.

“A Casual Christmas” has run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout December. Visitors to the working farm have experienced a festive holiday atmosphere, walking through a decorated equestrian barn, voting on their favorite stalls, shopping from local vendors and artists, and meeting Santa Claus. Outdoor activities have included face painting, hot chocolate, hayrides, pony rides, a petting zoo, axe throwing, inflatables, and more.

The event highlights the community’s generosity during the holiday season. Mount Chance Farm’s gratitude serves as a testament to the impact of local collaboration and support.

For those interested in participating, “A Casual Christmas” concludes Dec. 28, with donations continuing to benefit several causes and extend the spirit of giving into the new year.
