Leonardtown, MD.— The weather was perfect for a community to come together for food, friends, and music. This year marked the ninth anniversary of the Taste of St. Mary’s County.ย
This year was highlighted with 23 food and drink vendors, two live bands and countless other organizations to make this community event arguably the best so far.ย
“This is a day for Leonardtown. This great community has the opportunity to come together, and celebrate great food, friends, and this wonderful weather,” said St. Mary’s County Commissioner Todd Morgan [R-District 4].
There were many non-profit organizations raising money to benefit their causes. One in particular was the Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
“We are providing face painting and tattoos for free to the childern. We are only taking donations, which all go back in support of the Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad. We are so happy to be part of the community enjoyment,” said Catherine Stewart, who is the president of the auxiliary.
There were more food vendors than any previous year. Some vendors were slammed. The list included Days Off Deli and Grill, Chief’s Bar, and Nicolletti’s.
“This event is so much fun, we get to interact with the community members. We are the only local pizza shop in St. Mary’s County. It is fun to see kids and friends,” said Bruce Nicol, who is the owner of Nicolletti’s.
The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce had a huge role in this event. Bill Scharafia, who is the President of the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, was very delighted to see so many people at this year’s event.
“We are going to have a great day, we have wonderful weather. This year we have the largest number of vendors at this event [23]. We also have a great supporting community to thank,” said Scharafia. ย ย ย
