Kids and parents alike will enjoy the games, crafts, food, exhibits and demonstrations at the St. Clement’s Island Museum on the Potomac River in Colton’s Point, this Saturday, during the annual Childrenโs Day.

Free water taxi rides to St. Clement’s Island, where the groundbreaking for the renovated Blackistone Lighthouse will take place at 3 pm, will be available throughout the day. Enjoy a walk on the beach or just enjoy the scenic beauty and serenity of this most historic site, the birthplace of Maryland.
You won’t want to miss a full program of fun! There will be free t-shirts for the first 100 kids, a bike raffle, free goody bags from Tidewater Dental, a Moon Bounce, craft-making, and an array of old-fashioned schoolyard games, such as Tiddlywinks, Whirlygigs, jump rope, stilt walking, and more.
The host of exhibits will include a Teddy Bear Clinic – so remember to bring your bear! – and Hip Hop Dance Karate. The 7th District Optimist Club will offer 50 cent-per-item lunch menu, a Kiddie Tractor Pull, bike raffles, and giveaways from Bells of St. Mary’s Ice Cream Truck.
Admission to the museum and water taxis will be free all day.

To get to where the fun is:
From Lexington Park/Solomons: take Route 4 or follow Route 5 north through Leonardtown. Make a LEFT on Route 234. At the red blinking light, make a LEFT on Route 242 south (Colton Point Road) Go about 9 miles and look for event parking on LEFT (Gerard Lane)a grass lot behind the museum.
From Waldorf/Mechanicsville: Follow Route 5 south to Morganza and yellow blinking light at St. Joseph’s Church. Make a RIGHT on Route 242 south (Colton Point Road) to red blinking light in Clements. Stay straight on 242 for about 9 miles.
Look for event parking on LEFT (Gerard Lane), a grass lot behind the museum.
The museum and grounds are handicap accessible.
