Antoine T. Jones

Leonardtown, MD— On April 3, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s County Deputy Rachael Roszell was dispatched to the local detention center in Leonardtown for the report of an assault.ย 

When Roszell arrived on the scene, she made contact with Cpl. Butler, who advised he observed a verbal altercation between two inmates. Bulter advised the victim, and the defendant who was identified as Antoine T. Jones, 35, of Great Mills were in a verbal altercation.ย 

Butler took Jones out of the day room first to talk with him about the altercation. According to charging documents, “Butler stated Jones advised they were arguingย over an ‘albino monkey.'”ย 

Bulter also stated that Jones had ‘smashedย him in the face.’ Bulter observed the victims face and it was red on the right side.ย 

Contact was made with the victim who stated, “nothing happened. He advised he and Jones started arguing over animals, and that was it,” according to charging documents.

Jones advised that the argument was over ‘something stupid.’ Jones advised he pushed the victim in the shoulder but did not hit him.

Jones was brought to booking and charged with second-degree assault ย and second-degree assault ย on a DOC employee.

Jones has a scheduled hearing May 24 at District Court. Jones faces a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and/or a maximum fine of $5,000.
