Arrest In Lexington Park Weapons Investigation Yields Multiple Charges

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – A weapons violation investigation in Lexington Park led to the arrest of 20-year-old Kyreek M. Adams, now facing a series of charges related to illegal firearms possession and assault.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Adams’ residence on Columbus Drive, as part of an ongoing probe into local weapons violations. During the search, deputies discovered a modified Glock 9mm handgun capable of firing in fully automatic mode.

Court documents describe the scene as tense, with Adams initially resisting arrest and attempting to evade capture. Inside the residence, law enforcement recovered the firearm from Adams’ bedroom. The weapon was loaded with two high-capacity magazines, each holding 32 rounds of ammunition. A conversion device, known as a “switch,” had been installed on the Glock, turning it into a fully automatic machine gun, capable of firing multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger.

Authorities noted that Adams, only 20 years old, had a previous conviction for firearm possession as a minor in 2020, which legally prohibited him from owning or carrying any firearms. His criminal history exacerbates the severity of the charges he now faces.

Kyreek Adams has been formally charged with second-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, illegal possession of ammunition, and violation of Maryland’s machine gun statute. These charges carry significant penalties, including multiple years of imprisonment and substantial fines.

This arrest underscores the persistent efforts of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office to crack down on illegal weapons in the community. Law enforcement continues to ask residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to firearms.
