Mechanicsville, MD – State investigators reported a fire inside a vacant house in St. Mary’s County was deliberately set. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, a contractor doing work at the property discovered the fire damage at the house on Oxley Drive in Mechanicsville around 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26. According to report the blaze originated in the kitchen. The two-story, single-family home is owned by Ventures Trust.
“Unknown suspect[s] intentionally set a fire inside the vacant home through a partially open rear door,” a deputy fire marshal’s report stated. “The fire had burned itself out prior to being discovered.
Damage to the house is estimated at $2,500. No arrests have been made.
