Brandon Gamez is a Southern Maryland–based journalist who has called the region home for the past four years. With a strong passion for conservation and environmental storytelling, Brandon focuses on exploring issues such as invasive species, native plants, and the people working to protect the natural world. He is especially drawn to stories that spotlight individuals and organizations making a positive impact, believing that good news deserves just as much attention as the challenges. When he’s not writing, Brandon enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly watching the sunset near the lighthouse at Point Lookout, where the views over the Patuxent River never disappoint. His favorite local spots include Saint James Pizza—where he swears by the Wild Child pizza—and the Green Door on Tuesday nights for karaoke. As a communications graduate, Brandon believes connection is at the heart of journalism, and he writes to bring people closer to the environmental issues that matter most.
