ODENTON, Md. — A 32-year-old man accused of robbing a pet supply store in Odenton while brandishing what appeared to be a handgun is being held without bond and faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
The robbery occurred around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 3, 2026, at the Pet Supplies Plus in the 1100 block of Annapolis Road. Investigators allege the suspect confronted an employee, displayed what looked like a firearm, and demanded money before fleeing the store.
Officers later located the suspect riding a bicycle along Annapolis Road. After a brief attempt to escape, he was apprehended without incident. Authorities determined the weapon used was an air-powered BB pistol designed to resemble a handgun.
The suspect was identified as Charles A. W. Couser, 32, who has no fixed address. He was arrested by Anne Arundel County police.
Couser is charged in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft, along with several additional misdemeanor counts including reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering, and failure to obey a lawful order.
A bail review hearing was held Jan. 5 in Glen Burnie, where a judge ordered Couser held without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4 in Annapolis District Court.
The case remains under investigation.
