BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) is partnering with United Way of Central Maryland to expand the company’s relief fund for limited- and moderate-income customers.
The agreement adds an additional $2.5 million in temporary relief funds to BGE’s existing program. Applications can be found online and are first come, first served, until the funds have all been distributed.
“We recognize that customers are bearing the brunt of increasing energy costs as demand rises and supply is not there to meet it. While BGE and Exelon do not control energy supply costs, the company remains committed to advocating for customers and working on long-term solutions,” BGE wrote on its website.
To be eligible for the program, customers must meet the following criteria:
- Be an active BGE residential gas customer in Maryland
- Have a past-due balance of at least $250
- Meet limited-income or moderate-income thresholds (up to 400% of the federal poverty level)
To help ensure funds reach as many households as possible, customers who received a CRF credit in 2025 are not eligible to apply.
BGE also offers resources on its website to help customers find year-round assistance, and customers may still be eligible even if they have received assistance from other groups in Maryland in 2025.
BGE serves more than 1.3 million electric and nearly 700,000 natural gas customers in Maryland, including homes in Calvert, Anne Arundel and Prince Georges counties. Customers can learn more about this program and other relief options on the company’s website.
