Big Plans For Calvert County: Projects Set Through 2031

CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) reviewed the proposed fiscal year (FY) 2026–2031 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) during a Feb. 11 meeting, outlining major projects aimed at infrastructure, public safety and recreational enhancements.

Key Projects Across Departments

Calvert Library
The Calvert Library system is set for significant upgrades, including an $850,000 investment in FY 2028 for the Southern Library and an estimated $8.34 million for construction in FY 2029. A $40,000 allocation in FY 2026 will support the planning phase for a new Mobile Service Branch vehicle.

County Administration
Planned improvements include a $750,000 renovation for the Calvert Marine Museum’s (CMM) Otter Exhibit and $500,000 in FY 2027 for the Tennison Hull Replacement.

Public Safety
A proposed $2.86 million investment—a 215% increase over the previous budget—aims to enhance emergency response capabilities.

Recreation & Parks
Recreational facilities will see multiple investments, including $6.3 million in FY 2027 and $8 million in both FY 2028 and FY 2029 for the Harriet E. Brown Community Center. Additional projects include $3 million for the Breezy Point Park seawall replacement in FY 2028 and $2.7 million for Flag Ponds Nature Park shoreline enhancements in FY 2026.

  • 2026: Calvert Marine Museum Paleontology Center, Mobile Library Replacement
  • 2027: Calvert Marine Museum Otter Exhibit Renovation, Dunkirk Park Skate Park, Solomons Fishing Pier
  • 2028: Calvert Marine Museum Maritime Hall Exhibit Fabrication, Harriet E. Brown Community Center
  • 2029: Solomons Town Center Park Water Access
  • 2030: Breezy Point Park Building Additions & Upgrades, Synthetic Turf Fields
  • TBD: Flag Ponds Nature Park Beach Shelter


The BOCC will review these proposals as part of the Staff Recommended Budget to determine funding priorities. The CIP supports the county’s long-term growth while improving public services and recreational spaces.
