LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Families interested in learning how to ride bicycles safely are invited to attend the Bike Rodeo: Safety Stampede at Lexington Park Elementary School on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hosted by the Patuxent Tidewater Land Trust and the Lexington Park Library, the free event will feature a variety of interactive stations designed to teach essential bicycle skills and safety practices. Activities will include lessons on how to properly start and stop while riding, as well as how to safely cross intersections.
In addition to cycling techniques, the event will include stations focused on safety, such as helmet and bike fittings, bicycle inspections, and an overview of rules of the road for cyclists. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and local bike shop staff will assist in running several of the stations.
Participants who complete all nine stations will be entered into a prize drawing, with items donated by Small Town Bargains Thrift Store. Light snacks and refreshments will also be available.
Registration is encouraged and can be completed online at: https://stmalib.libnet.info/event/12675606.
