Solomons, Md., – Fire crews rushed to a residential blaze Saturday evening on Calvert Street in Solomons after a caller reported that a cigarette dropped onto a couch had ignited a rapidly spreading fire. Emergency dispatch received multiple reports, with one caller describing a loud explosion as the structure became fully engulfed.
The fire, reported at approximately 5:49 p.m., quickly spread through the single-family home. Emergency responders confirmed that the fire was threatening neighboring structures, prompting an urgent call for additional resources.
According to dispatch, the caller was able to assist a neighbor in evacuating the home before conditions worsened. Authorities have not confirmed any injuries at this time.
