(Camden, NJ.)–-After taking an early lead, Southern Maryland was unable to generate enough offense May 21, as they fell to the Camden Riversharks by the of 3-1 to lose the series to Camden.

In the top of the third, Antone DeJesus doubled to right center field to put a runner in scoring position.ย  Renny Osuna would then trade places with DeJesus with an RBI double to score Antone to make it 1-0.

The Riversharks were held scoreless until the bottom of the fifth.ย  Joel Guzman led off the bottom of the frame with a homerun to tie the game at 1-1.ย  The next hitter Carlos Guzman laced a single to center, followed by a Nathaniel Coronado single to center, and a Michael Rockett single to load the bases.ย  Brandon Chaves comes to the plate, and grounded out to first to score Carlos Guzman to make it 2-1 Camden.

Camden added a run in the bottom of the eighth, as Brandon Chaves doubled to right, and Evan Crawford singled to score Chaves to bring the score to 3-1.ย  Blue Crabs starter Brian Grening went seven innings, allowing three runs, and striking out five.ย  Riversharks starter Sean Gleason went 5.2 innings, allowing a run on seven hits to pick up the win.

Brandon Chaves went 2-4 with an RBI, while Evan Crawford and Joel Guzman each had an RBI.ย  The three, four, five hitters of Wilson, Ward, and Molina went a combined 0-12 for the ballgame.

Southern Maryland returns home over the Memorial Day weekend for a four game set with the Lancaster Barnstormers.ย  The first pitch is set for tomorrow at 7:05.ย  Newcomer Jon Leicester (0-0, 0.00) will make his first career Atlantic League start.ย  Heโ€™ll be opposed by right hander Bryan Woodall (0-2, 6.15) for Lancaster.
