SOMERSET, NJ –ย The Blue Crabs and Patriots squared off on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at TD Bank Ballpark. However, the Somerset Patriots picked up the win, finishing the sweep of the Crabs 5-3. It was anyoneโ€™s game however, with the teams trading off the lead the entire time.

Somersetโ€™s designated hitter, Bryan LaHair opened up the first inning with a single to right field, and right fielder Trayvon Robinson later scored the first run by making it around to home on a passed ball by Blue Crabs starter Brian Burres.

Somerset pulled ahead in the second inning when first baseman Matt fields doubled to center field and reached home on an RBI single hit by center fielder Vinny Zarrillo.

Later in the fifth inning, the Blue Crabs got on the board after center fielder Gary Brown reached first base on an error by Somersetโ€™s third baseman Carlos Guzman and scored on a single, hit by right fielder Dโ€™Arby Myers.

The Blue Crabs took the lead by plating two in the eighth. Left fielder Jamar Walton made it to first on a fielderโ€™s choice and scored on an RBI single by first baseman Norberto Susini. With an error by Somersetโ€™s Matt Fields, another run was added by Blue Crabsโ€™ designated hitter Zach Wilson.

Somerset came up big in the bottom of the eighth by taking the lead for good and winning the game when they scored three runs. Guzman hit a triple to right field bringing home two, cutting the lead 4-3 and second baseman Scott Kelly knocked the last run in with a double to left field off of Justin Berg.

The Blue Crabs head to Sugar Land, Texas to begin a three game series against the Skeeters tomorrow night. They return home on June 23rd for eight games in Waldorf.
