Vocalist Mark Arcusa made his debut with the No Where Men Sunday, Aug. 26 in Chesapeake Beach.
Chesapeake Beach, MD – Some songs go in one ear and out the other but the hits that bring back the good times linger forever. Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa has become a summer oasis for the baby boom generationโespecially the boomers who grew up in the northwest corridor of Prince Georgeโs County and the nearby jurisdictions. The resurrected horn band the NoWhere Men returned to the bayside venue Sunday, Aug. 26 to sing and play the hits of the 1960s, 70s early 80s and even one recent smash that electrified the joint. It seemed like half the old neighborhood showed up and there are pictures to prove it.
The groupโs newest memberโvocalist Mark Arcusaโmade his debut during the Aug. 26 performance. Arcusa, a teacher at Bowie High School, thanked his seasoned bandmates โfor taking on a hack like me.โ The bandโs playlist included everything from the Platterโs โWith This Ring,โ several Chicago classics, their Four Tops medley, songs by Earth, Wind and Fire and even Delbert McClintonโs classic crossover โGivin’ It Up For Your Love.โ While the crowd took a likinโ to Arcusa, trumpeter/vocalist Richard Kessler had the audience believing as he mingled adeptly among them, rapping and singing Ronson/Marsโ โUptown Funk.โ
During intermission, Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa entertainment director Murphy Smilardo announced the NoWhere Men are booked for New Yearโs Eve at the Rod โNโ Reel.
Another old favorite returns to the bayside band shell Thursday evening, Aug. 30. Darryl Davis performs from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Sept. 2 Benfield Rush is booked to play classic rock from the 80s, 90s and today from 4 to 8 p.m. Then on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3 itโs The Ultimate Journey Tribute โ Eclipse. That show will wrap up the 2018 Rock the Dock season. However, September brings with it a new event at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spaโthe First annual Bourbon, Bacon and Beer Fest.
