


BRYANS ROAD, Md. — Firefighters responded to a working structure fire Sunday evening at a three-story residence on Cannon Court after flames that started in the garage spread up the side of the house. The home was evacuated and multiple fire units responded to knock down the blaze.
Charles County emergency units were dispatched around 6:21 p.m. to an address on Cannon Court for reports of a building fire. According to dispatch, the fire originated in the garage and was spreading up the side of the three-story house. The residence had been evacuated by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
Command was established around 6:27 p.m. as crews arrived to find a two-story single-family home with fire visible from the garage. According to dispatch communications, the structure featured a walk-out basement on the Charlie side with the basement not initially involved in the fire. Multiple engine companies and truck companies responded to combat the blaze.
Firefighters deployed multiple attack lines with crews working on both the first and second divisions of the structure. Officials say, the bulk of the fire was knocked down by approximately 6:37 p.m. as crews checked for extension throughout the home. Firefighters opened ceilings and walls to search for hidden fire that may have extended from the garage into living spaces.
Primary searches of all three levels were completed by 6:46 p.m. with all personnel accounted for. Authorities say searches found the home clear with no occupants trapped inside. Power to the residence was secured around 6:47 p.m. as crews worked to make the structure safe.
The incident was classified as a working fire, indicating significant involvement requiring multiple units and sustained operations. A Rapid Intervention Team was established on scene as a safety measure for firefighters working inside the burning structure.
No injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters on scene. The cause of the garage fire remains under investigation by fire officials. Damage estimates and the extent of fire damage to the home have not been released by authorities.
