CALLAWAY, Md. – In Callaway, Maryland, a recent theft at a Weis supermarket has led to the arrest of 36-year-old Richard Alvin Nolan III from Lusby. According to official documents filed by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Nolan is charged with theft after allegedly stealing multiple bottles of Dove body wash on October 14, 2024.

Deputies responded to a report from Weis at 20995 Point Lookout Road, where store loss prevention officer Christopher Tinsley reported seeing a masked individual, later identified as Nolan, enter the store around 12:35 PM. Surveillance footage captured Nolan placing 14 bottles of Dove body wash, valued at approximately $125.86, into shopping bags within his cart before exiting without paying.

The suspect was seen leaving in a white Nissan heading south on Route 3. Law enforcement reviewed the store’s surveillance footage and observed the suspect wearing a black Ecko Unlimited shirt, a black hat, and a full face mask. Days later, on October 16, police apprehended Nolan, who was reportedly wearing the same shirt seen in the footage. Facial features like his eyes and eyebrows helped officials match Nolan to the suspect seen on camera.

After reviewing evidence, authorities charged Nolan with theft for items valued between $100 and $1,500, a misdemeanor under Maryland law. If convicted, he could face penalties including fines or jail time, depending on the court’s ruling.

  1. What’s the reason people are stealing body care products — lotions, body wash, make-up, nowadays? What is the street value of a bottle of lotion or cosmetics? Ridiculous. If you have to steal go for the expensive stuff. SMH.
