
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A St. Mary’s County woman is being held without bond following child abuse allegations stemming from a late-January incident, according to court records. Elizabeth Ann Quade, 43, of California, Md., faces multiple criminal charges related to alleged abuse involving a child.
According to charging documents, Quade is charged with second-degree child abuse by a custodian, a felony offense, second-degree child abuse in a household setting, also a felony, and second-degree assault. Authorities allege the charges stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 29, 2026.
Court records indicate Quade is currently being held without bond following her arrest. A competency hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026, to determine her competency to stand trial.
Under Maryland law, second-degree child abuse is a felony offense. A conviction can carry a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Second-degree assault is a misdemeanor that carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years of incarceration and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
